While many batteries are rechargeable, eventually, they may need to be replaced and mobility scooter batteries are no exception. Where do you begin? Typically, you can contact the original provider of your mobility scooter to order replacement parts, however, if you received the scooter as a gift, or purchased it from a third party, you may not have that information readily available to you. This guide will walk you through the process of how and where you can obtain mobility scooter batteries.
What Are Mobility Scooter Batteries?
Most scooters have two rechargeable batteries that power the unit and allow for you to drive a certain range, depending on the model, terrain and other variables. There are usually two different types of batteries: gel and sealed lead acid. Gel batteries tend to produce more cycles than sealed lead-acid batteries, meaning that they can be recharged and depleted more times.

What Kind of Batteries Do I Need?
There are a few ways to identify the types of batteries that you may need. One of the fastest ways is to contact the manufacturer of your scooter, or check within the product’s owner’s manual. If neither of those options are available to you, you can take a look at the battery itself. Most batteries are marked by the manufacturer and often have the total power output on top and denoted as amp hours or “AH”.
Where Do I Order New Batteries?
These batteries can be purchased or ordered from the original provider of the chair, or you can visit our dealer locator to find a retailer online or near you: https://www.pridemobility.com/find-a-dealer.asp

How Much do Batteries Cost?
The cost of your batteries depends on several factors, such as what type of scooter you have, what type of replacement battery you need, and where you are purchasing the batteries from. If you utilized Medicare to purchase your scooter, you may be eligible to have Medicare Part B potentially cover replacement batteries. The best way to find out if your insurance covers batteries is to contact your healthcare plan directly. You can visit Medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227). Replacement parts should all have warranty . And why is everything so high. Before covid. Yes I my only mobility and I’ve been through all types of chairs and scooters. We need 100 percent dependability. #GeeWhiz
