How do You Get New Mobility Scooter Batteries

While many batteries are rechargeable, eventually, they may need to be replaced and mobility scooter batteries are no exception. Where do you begin? Typically, you can contact the original provider of your mobility scooter to order replacement parts, however, if you received the scooter as a gift, or purchased it from a third party, you may not have that information readily available to you. This guide will walk you through the process of how and where you can obtain mobility scooter batteries.

What Are Mobility Scooter Batteries?

Most scooters have two rechargeable batteries that power the unit and allow for you to drive a certain range, depending on the model, terrain and other variables. There are usually two different types of batteries: gel and sealed lead acid. Gel batteries tend to produce more cycles than sealed lead-acid batteries, meaning that they can be recharged and depleted more times.

What Kind of Batteries Do I Need?

There are a few ways to identify the types of batteries that you may need. One of the fastest ways is to contact the manufacturer of your scooter, or check within the product’s owner’s manual. If neither of those options are available to you, you can take a look at the battery itself. Most batteries are marked by the manufacturer and often have the total power output on top and denoted as amp hours or “AH”.

Where Do I Order New Batteries?

These batteries can be purchased or ordered from the original provider of the chair, or you can visit our dealer locator to find a retailer online or near you: https://www.pridemobility.com/find-a-dealer.asp

How Much do Batteries Cost?

The cost of your batteries depends on several factors, such as what type of scooter you have, what type of replacement battery you need, and where you are purchasing the batteries from. If you utilized Medicare to purchase your scooter, you may be eligible to have Medicare Part B potentially cover replacement batteries. The best way to find out if your insurance covers batteries is to contact your healthcare plan directly. You can visit Medicare.gov or call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227). 1. I will agree. I feel the input of a person 99.9 percent that depends on this for mobility should be really considered and done. Should come with extra batteries so it can be charged as needed. 1. Hi Robbie, your serial number will most likely be on the seat post or in the original owner’s manual. It should start with an “S” and be 14 characters long.

  6. Battery will not charge. Power comes to the unit, and the power light is on, but the charging light does not come on, and it does not charge. Not sure if its the power cord or the battery.

    1. Hi Margaret! If you have your serial number we can take a look at what type you have and what the manufacturer’s warranty is on them. If they haven’t been charged in a while the cells can deplete and a new set may be needed. If you want to email us at info@pridemobility.com

  10. Do you answer any question on this or do you just send everybody to and Email or dealer?. Like how to test the battery or charger

  11. I have a Baja Wrangler 2 and I have a couple questions. 1. How long do the batteries last? I am at about 1200miles on it and the batteries are going dead already. Does that sound right? 2. When buying new batteries are there different strengths? I would like to buy the strongest battery there is. What is the best strongest battery I cab buy?

Thank you for you time – Tim.

    1. Hello Tim, the warranty on the battery covers them for six months per the manufacturer. However with proper charging habits they are expected to last beyond that warranty period. There are two types of batteries that can be used with this unit: Type: (2) 75AH; (2) optional 100 AH. We hope that helps Tim! 🙂
