With so many mobility products from which to choose, it can sometimes be difficult to determine the appropriate device. Pride Mobility® offers electric wheelchairs, mobility scooters, and power lift recliners for those seeking a greater sense of mobility freedom.
While many products appear to be similar, they each have unique uses, and one may be more suitable for you compared to others. In this Product Category Guide, we’ll help you identify what could be the best mobility solution for you.
Note: Products listed here that are eligible for Medicare reimbursement are designated with (*).
Electric Wheelchair vs. Mobility Scooter
While electric wheelchairs and mobility scooters are similar in function, they are not interchangeable and have unique characteristics. Click here if you need a quick refresher on why these differences are important.
Electric Wheelchair – Standard Power
Each of these products is eligible for Medicare reimbursement and carries a weight capacity of 300 pounds, which is why they fall into the Standard Power category.
They all perform similarly with some differences in drive tires, suspension, look, battery size, battery range, and top speed.
The Jazzy EVO 613 Series offers the option of a lithium battery, which is referred to as the Jazzy EVO 613Li model. Click here for further information about the lithium battery advantage.
Electric Wheelchair – Lightweight/Travel
These products are designed for maximum portability due to their compact, lightweight nature. They’re built for on-the-go travel and are convenient when you need to get moving in a pinch. If you’re planning a getaway, they’re convenient to bring along and store.
The Jazzy Carbon can also be classified as a folding power wheelchair. It folds flat in just a couple seconds for easy storage and transport and unfolds again in a snap.
Electric Wheelchair – Elevating
These two products are very similar. However, the key difference is that the new Jazzy Air MED is eligible for Medicare reimbursement.
Both products contain power seat elevation up to 12 inches and maintain their top speed even when fully elevated. This elevation makes surfaces around the home much more accessible, such as high cabinets, microwaves, kitchen and bathroom sinks, and closets.
Electric Wheelchair – Heavy Duty/Bariatric
These power wheelchairs, all eligible for Medicare reimbursement, are considered “heavy duty” or “very heavy duty” because of their weight capacities. The Jazzy EVO 614HD and Jazzy Elite HD each have a weight capacity of 450 pounds, while the Jazzy 1450 has a weight capacity of 600 pounds.
Scooter – 3-Wheel vs. 4-Wheel
Pride offers both 3-wheel and 4-wheel mobility scooters, and there are advantages to both, depending on what you’re seeking.
There’s more leg room on a 3-wheel scooter since there are no wheel wells in the front. A taller rider may prefer a 3-wheel option as a result. These models also are lighter and generally boast a tighter turning radius.
While some 3-wheel models come with anti-tip wheels, 4-wheel models are traditionally more stable. They are also built for navigating uneven terrain more easily, whereas both are great for indoor, flat surfaces.
Scooter – Go Go® Travel Mobility (one model)
Go Go® LX with CTS Suspension (3W)
Our Go Go® Travel Mobility Series is all about being travel-ready. Many of these scooters contain feather-touch disassembly for convenient transport and storage, are lightweight, and help you get around in a jiff.
The i-Go is a folding scooter which can also be separated into two pieces that weigh just 32 pounds each. Both the i-Go and Go Go Endurance Li contain a lithium battery for additional performance. The Go Go ES2 is eligible for Medicare reimbursement.
Scooter – Go Go® Travel Mobility (two models)
These products are available in both a 3-wheel and 4-wheel model. While the Go Go Ultra X and Go Go Elite Traveller have a weight capacity of 300 pounds, the Go Go Sport is considered a “heavy duty” scooter with a weight capacity of 325 pounds.
Scooter – Zero-Turn Series
As the name implies, these 4-wheel scooters offer enhanced turning capabilities similar to that of a 3-wheel scooter. With iTurn Technology™, these dual motor-scooters help you navigate tight turns with ease while offering a smooth ride over more uneven terrain thanks to CTS Suspension.
Scooter – Mid-Size Luxury and Heavy Duty
Among our more luxurious mid-size options with plenty of features are our Victory series and Maxima. The Victory 10 is considered a “heavy duty” scooter with a weight capacity of 400 pounds, and the Maxima is “very heavy duty” with a weight capacity of 500 pounds. These scooters are stylish, comfortable, and powerful.
Scooter – Outdoor and Baja® Mobility
Designed specifically for outdoor use, our Baja Mobility lineup features scooters that are built to tackle uneven terrain while reaching impressive top speeds. If you enjoy outdoor recreation, these are the scooters for you.
The Pursuit 2 and PX4 are also premier choices for outdoor exploration with features galore. These scooters boast enhanced lighting packages, pneumatic tires, and outstanding mileage ranges.
