Though there are plenty that are held around the world, it can be difficult to know which ones would be worth your time, based on your interests. We have gathered a list of different events and conferences, primarily in the United States, that are centered around the disability community.
The Abilities Expo is a three-day event for anyone: people with disabilities, their families, caregivers, seniors and healthcare professionals. During this time, there are a variety of products and services showcased to attendees with the goal of introducing opportunities to enrich lives through different technologies. As of right now, there are Abilities Expos in eight different locations around the United States and Canada. Loaner scooters are available during the expo on a first-come, first-serve basis, so be sure to check out the scooter loaner area!

Naidex is the leading annual event dedicated to the independent living and healthcare industries in the UK. Every March, this two-day event serves as the point of reference for future trends in those industries. Thousands of attendees from around the world gather to see 300 expert-led seminars, shop 400 suppliers, participate in interactive features and mingle with like-minded individuals. Anyone and everyone are welcome to attend, especially those in the independent living industry, people with disabilities and professionals from the healthcare sector.
Raise the Bar HIRE! Career Fair and Conference
Every year, Work Without Limits hosts two events for job seekers with disabilities. The first of their events is the Raise the Bar HIRE! Career Fair. This annual career fair connects attendees with leading employers who want to hire. During National Disability Employment Awareness Month every October, the Raise the Bar HIRE! Conference takes place, featuring prominent national keynote speakers, educational sessions, exhibitors, and networking opportunities. National Veterans Wheelchair Games
Another annual event that you won’t want to miss is the National Veterans Wheelchair Games. It is open to veterans with spinal cord injuries, multiple sclerosis, amputations and other central neurological impairments with the goal to increase their independence and quality of life and promote health activities. To take advantage of the opportunities to educate veterans on accessibility, travel, adaptation, and more, the Games are held in a different city each year. The National Veterans Wheelchair Games is co-presented between the Department of Veterans Affairs and Paralyzed Veterans of America and spans over several days. There are 19 different events in which veterans can choose to participate, including wheelchair basketball, softball, swimming, cycling and power lifting. NOSSCR’s Annual Disability Law Conference The National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR) hosts an annual conference for Social Security disability attorneys and representatives from around the United States. The organization’s mission is to encourage the highest quality representation and advocacy on behalf of persons seeking SSDI and SSI benefits. The organization has become a pioneer in offering legal education through their programs. At their yearly conferences, you can earn CLE credits, network and learn about best practices and trends in the field.
