There’s only one verified way to purchase a new Pride® Mobility electric wheelchair, mobility scooter, or power lift recliner – through an authorized dealer.
However, we realize there are many additional ways you may be able to obtain a product, either for yourself, a loved one, or a friend. Maybe you’re in the market for a power mobility device, and someone you know no longer needs theirs and is willing to sell it to you at a discount. Maybe you stumble upon a power chair or scooter at a garage sale. And maybe you’re surfing eBay or other resale sites and come across a unit that you think would work perfectly for you (or someone you know).
If you acquire a Pride Mobility unit in any fashion other than going through an authorized dealer, there are some points you must consider to ensure you get the most out of your mobility experience.

We always recommend purchasing through an authorized Pride dealer.
If considering an electric wheelchair, mobility scooter, or lift chair from Pride, we always recommend that you make a purchase through an authorized Pride dealer. You can use our convenient Dealer Locator tool to find one in your area.
Why go through a dealer? You can speak directly with someone knowledgeable about our products before making a purchase to learn all the features and the basics of how the unit operates. You’ll have a direct point of contact in case an issue arises with the product, so you can get in touch quickly with the dealer that sold you the unit. They can assist you with any issues after the purchase. And you can be assured that you’re receiving a new, quality unit that was shipped directly from Pride to the dealer.
It’s important to know the serial number.
Every Pride product has a unique serial number. This allows for accurate tracking and management of an individual unit among millions of others out in the world.
If you purchase a product secondhand, you should first make sure that the serial number is accessible. CLICK HERE to learn how to locate a serial number on Pride power chairs, scooters, and lift chairs. Having the serial number is critical if an issue with the product arises. It can confirm warranty status and past service history while expediting any repair process, as Pride will be able to verify the unit’s history.
Often, when products are purchased secondhand, batteries become an issue. The unit you receive may have been sitting idle for a long time or may have a battery that has been drained of most of its energy. When you need a new battery, having the serial number is
critical so that a local dealer or Pride Mobility can assist you as quickly as possible and determine whether the battery may be under warranty. Different products also work with different kinds of batteries, so the serial number will confirm the type of battery needed for a certain unit.
Without a serial number, the warranty status can’t be known, which means repairs or replacement parts could become costly. Verify that the serial number is accessible before acquiring a secondhand product.
Thoroughly vet the product and seller.
Our products are FDA Class II Medical Devices, which means they’re designed to aid individuals with mobility impairments. That designation also indicates that the product has undergone intense, rigorous testing, meeting the highest safety standards in the industry. Our Jazzy®, Go Go®, and VivaLift!® products, along with all our other brands, represent world-class quality and reliability in power mobility.
However, if you ‘re making a secondhand purchase, there’s no guarantee that the unit is functioning as intended, as opposed if you were to buy it directly from an authorized dealer. Make sure you’re given a chance to test the product thoroughly for any faults, defective functionality, electronic failures, or mechanical issues.
By the same token, if you’re buying online, be sure to ask many questions of the seller and receive assurance that once you receive the product, you’ll have a chance to test it out before deciding if you’d like to keep it.
You can access manuals and other information online.
At PrideMobility.com, we house all our products’ manuals, brochures, and other information. If you obtain a secondhand product, it may or may not be available with a physical owner’s manual. If not, you can check out our Resources page and find the manual that corresponds with your power wheelchair, mobility scooter, or power lift recliner.
Warranty information, specifications, and safety guides are all available on each individual product page. We recommend you review all these documents carefully prior to finalizing a secondhand purchase.
Our consumer support team is here for you.
No matter how you obtain a Pride product, we know you’ll have questions about it. Our dedicated, onshore consumer support team is here to assist you. Remember, as long as you have the serial number, we’ll be able to answer most of your questions and point you in the right direction.
From batteries, to parts, and everything in between, Pride Mobility is dedicated to making sure you get the most out of your mobility experience. We also encourage you to contact an authorized dealer in your area if ever in need of assistance with a product that you purchased secondhand.
