Jim Michaels has always been an active person. And why not, considering the breathtaking scenery of the rural area that surrounds his hometown of DuBois, Pennsylvania. It’s a sight to see – that is, if you can get around to enjoy it.
Recent increasing health issues and decreasing mobility made it much more difficult for Jim to maintain his active lifestyle. Eventually, the time had come to consider a mobility solution.
“My wife and sons looked into getting me a travel scooter so I could enjoy the outdoors surrounding my home in rural Pennsylvania,” Jim recalls. “We wanted something we could put in our Impala car trunk and enjoy outdoor adventures like festivals, car shows, or just sightseeing scenic views in our beautiful area of PA.”
Shortly after the search began, the Michaels family came across the Pride® Mobility Go Go® Sport 4-Wheel travel scooter. For Jim, it was love at first ride.

“My first ride on it was life-changing!” he exclaimed. “There is a dairy farm about a mile from my house. The trip there includes a rural road, neighbors, and beautiful views. I frequently stop to visit with a neighbor on the way and always enjoy watching the workings of the farm. And of course, the cows!”
A simple trip down the road like the one Jim described wouldn’t have been possible for him without a reliable medical device. At first, the Michaels family was considering a different model. But it soon became clear that the Go Go Sport was the right solution for a number of reasons.
“To someone thinking about getting a mobility device, don’t just jump in and get the first one you look at,” Jim said. “[My sons] considered the quality and durability of the product and most importantly, my safety.
“I absolutely love my scooter. It is well made and backed up by a great company which was so helpful in choosing a model for my needs. It was easy to assemble, and I think it will last for many years to come.”
Equipped with his Pride scooter, Jim has begun to enjoy the great outdoors with his family as he did before. The Go Go Sport has become his conduit toward greater mobility, but most importantly, toward experiencing all that life has to offer.

“There is a plethora of things this scooter means to me,” Jim said. “It gives me a relaxing daily adventure to look forward to, some socialization, outdoor tranquility as I travel in my rural surroundings. The knowledge of how happy my wife is to see me do something that brings me happiness.
“All this calms my mind to better accept the reality of my lack of mobility and reset my outlook on life.”
With a renewed zest for life, Jim has regained his independence and is experiencing his world just as he remembers it. And as for his Go Go Sport, “…it is well worth it and a true investment in my mental health!”
