An oxygen tank holder can help you reclaim mobility. For many people, Pride Mobility devices are key to maintaining an active lifestyle. Mobility scooters or power wheelchairs keep you moving. If you have a condition that requires you to use oxygen therapy, it may feel like your mobility is being taken away.
Using supplemental oxygen is not a sentence to being tethered to a machine at home. Portable oxygen tanks and the Pride Mobility oxygen tank holder give you the equipment to carry on with your normal activities.
There are many reasons why a person might need portable oxygen. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) — an overarching collection of lung conditions like emphysema and chronic bronchitis — is a common culprit. These lung ailments are characterized by restricted airflow and difficulty breathing. Using oxygen — either continuously or just intermittently — can alleviate the respiratory symptoms for people with COPD.
Can I use oxygen on my Jazzy wheelchair?
Yes. All Jazzy power wheelchairs as well as the Go Chair and Go Chair Med models are compatible with the Pride Mobility oxygen tank holder. The holder comes with the parts needed to secure it to the back of your electric wheelchair. The oxygen tank holder easily attaches to the rear of your power wheelchair using the universal rear hitch adapter.
Can I use oxygen on my mobility scooter?
Yes. Most Pride Mobility scooters have an available oxygen tank holder attachment. The easy-to-assemble oxygen tank holder attaches to the universal rear hitch adapter on the back of your mobility scooter. There are no extra parts needed to secure the oxygen tank.
There are three travel scooter models that are not compatible with the oxygen tank holder. Those scooters include: Go Go Folding Scooter 4-Wheel, Go Go ES2 3-Wheel and iRide.
Will my oxygen tank fit in the oxygen tank holder?
Pride Mobility’s oxygen tank holder has the same dimensions for power wheelchairs and mobility scooters. There are several sizes of oxygen tanks. The size depends on the patient’s needs and their doctor’s prescription. Our oxygen tank holder is compatible with the commonly used D and E oxygen tanks. The Pride Mobility oxygen tank holder has a weight capacity of 10 pounds.
E oxygen tanks are 24.9 inches tall and 4.38 inches in diameter. A full E oxygen tank holds 680 liters of oxygen and weighs 7.9 pounds.
The smaller D oxygen tank is 16.5 inches tall, with the same 4.38-inch diameter as the larger tank. The oxygen tank holder adjusts to safely hold the shorter D tank. D tanks hold 425 liters of oxygen, which weighs 5.3 pounds when full.
